Play Is a Brand Pillar — How playfulness wins loyalty and builds community
Raphaël Benros is a London-based games producer and strategist, and the founder of Snackbox Games. His work sits at the intersection of games, brand and community: building the systems that make people want to come back, and the stories that make them want to bring friends.
Before founding the studio he worked as a creative producer and strategy lead across games and brand marketing, with stints in Edinburgh, Beijing and Rome, and he has judged the DevGAMM Awards. He studied at the University of St Andrews and writes regularly on games and their social impact.
His MDF 07 keynote makes the case that playfulness is one of the few brand qualities that scales with loyalty rather than against it, and shows how teams outside the games industry can design for it on purpose.
